Origin of the name Ada

The alumni foundation was, after a long council, named "Ada Alumni". Ada is the first name of Ada Lovelace, a female mathematician who lived in the beginning of the 19th century. Lovelace is mostly known for the description of the analytical machine. This machine would later be the inspiration for Charles Babbage to create the first mechanical computer. Before this machine was even invented, Ada Lovelace already wrote the first computer program for it. This is why Ada Lovelace is seen as the first mathematician and computer scientist. Simply put, Ada Lovelace is the first alumnus of our field, and with this inspiration we named the association after her.
